If you have followed me at all, you would see that I love vintage. I love to incorporate it into my displays for my shows. From going to flea markets and several different shops, I have a large collection of cheese boxes that I used to store my earrings. So it should come to no surprise that I try to attend any sort of event that has vintage goods for sale.
So when the space opened up at a vintage vendor shop, I had to jump at that opportunity. It's been a little bit since I started-but didn't announce it here, so its all new to you. (I've been busy okay?). Introducing, Weathered Sea Hag at Salvage Angel in Norwood MA! New treasures are added frequently! So don't wait if you see something you like! They are open Thursday 12-6, Friday-Sunday 10-6, and are located at 83 Morse St, Norwood MA.

A lot can change in a just a few years, and sometimes within a few months.
But honestly, it's all for the better. I get to live my dream of having two brick and mortar shops. Is it hard-uhhh yeah, but it's totally worth it. Giving people the joy of being able to find a locally made or handmade gift makes the tough days that much more worth it. The same applies for when I make a piece of jewelry. While the promotion of my jewelry has lessened, I am still busy in my studio creating more things for you! So stay tuned, there's a lot more in the works that I didn't hit towards! :) ![]() It's about time I get back into blogging, so here I am. Since I last posted, a lot has happened. Most exciting was opening up my own brick and mortar location with my business bestie, Althea of the Finished Thread. It has been a crazy 4-ish months, but we are absolutely loving it. Check out what we are doing at www.ceruleanri.com, and on social media @ceruleanofri on Facebook and Instagram. I'm still doing shows, definitely less this year for the holiday season. My schedule so far is: December 2nd 9am-4pm- Buoys & Burlap pop up market, Harwich MA December 14th 6:30pm-9pm- Mistletoe Market, Market St. Pub, Warren RI December 16th 9am-1pm- Holiday Shopping at the Big Red Barn, Norton MA (Need more info on these events-check out my Facebook page!) Can't make it to the shop or any of my shows this holiday season? Have no fear, I have an Etsy shop filled with some goodies. See something on my social media that you want, I can make you a custom listing on Etsy for it! Hope to see you soon! 'Since doing Field of Artisans shows last winter in South County RI, I've not only been able to put my work out there more, but develop lasting friendships and new opportunities (aka my Share Space shop!). So of course when the summer schedule was posted I had to sign up. I mean how can I not do a show in a gorgeous park and on the beach? All of the below photos are courtesy of the resident photographer for Field of Artisans, TJ Thran! Here are the dates that I am currently doing this summer! July 4th-Special pop up market at Old Mountain Field 2-8pm July 16th- SK Town Beach July 17th- Marina Park July 30th- SK Town Beach August 13th- SK Town Beach August 14th- Marina Park August 27th- SK Town Beach August 28th- Marina Park All of the SK Town Beach and Marina Park shows are 11-4. Addresses for both locations are listed in the shop section! Hope to see you in the field! If you have been following along on my social media for the past few weeks, you will have seen that I have become a SHARE SPACE shop owner! For those of you who don't know, SHARE SPACE is a collective creative space for artists, entrepreneurs and small businesses all under one roof! It really is a great community that is very welcoming to new people. Right in Federal Hill in Providence RI, but tucked away from the street, its size is deceiving from the outside. Currently it features business such as White Buffalo (great vintage finds!), Seams Brilliant (sewing heaven), Artefacts (global inspired jewelry and gifts), and the Inner Space Gallery, which features the work of people with developmental disabilities or mental illness. And now, me! Kate Simpson Designs. I will also be selling my mom's work, Treasures & Trinkets, which includes polymer clay jewelry, hand painted cards and signs. My mom and I have been talking about getting a store, and this is our starting off point! I have loved being there so far and can't wait to see what's coming next! I keep adding more work into the shop, so come check out what I have now! And depending on when you come in you might see another little expansion of things that I love!
Hours are listed in my shop section! Feel free to contact me with any questions! xo Kate 2015 has come and gone, 2016 is here and is in full swing. First a quick wrap up of the major events of 2015. Buying a house, and making it a home: I think the most pivotal moment for me of 2015 was buying a house. It was the first major adult thing that I did all on my own. I would a ton of hours and saved to be able to have a down payment and not be broke after putting a down payment down. Now one year later, I am still in love with my house, and I still am making it a home with little touches here and there. Getting my two kittens, Gracie and Bella, were also new additions to my life last year. Hustlin' for my business This past holiday season was the busiest season for me with the amount of shows I did. The shows I did not only put my jewelry out there more but I also was able to form friendships with people that I wouldn't have met if I did not try something new. Now looking toward this year, as it is already a quarter of the way gone, I have a lot of things to look forward to. I am doing several shows this year, so I can't wait to meet new people and spend time with the people that I met last year at the shows I did last year. I really love the community and encouragement that resulted from those shows. See my shop section to see where I am going to be!
So fall has been in full swing, and I have tried to enjoy as much of it as I can, because my least favorite season is quickly approaching...So lately I have been working a lot lately as a nurse, in my fairly recent promotion to nursing supervisor. On my occasional days off I have tried to make jewelry, knit and take lots of pictures. I clearly haven't posted here in awhile, but have been trying to post to Instagram with little sneak peeks into what I have been up to. Below are some pictures that I have shared to Instagram. I am absolutely loving my new laptop pictured below with Bella! Holiday show(s!) prep is in full swing, so stay tuned for what I am going to have at my shows. Last weekend I went to a vintage marketplace with my mom. I love being able spend time with my mom and get some great vintage finds! Plus it was a perfect day weather wise, and I love seeing the changing colors of fall.
![]() Spending the weekend on the Cape for a friend's wedding and the LoveLocal Fest really made me realize how much I miss it. I brought my kittens Gracie and Bella home with me, and while my cat growing up Jingle Bells was not a fan, it was definitely an adventure bringing them home with me. Spending time with them and my family was interesting-surprisingly my brother was the most interested in them (especially when it came to introducing them to Jingles and a laser pointer). The first LoveLocal Fest of the season this year was fun. It was really windy-but the rain held off! LoveLocal Fest was also supporting the vendors by running a #ishoplocal contest, rewarding customers for shopping local and entering them in to win $50. Of course I had to participate too-my choice was The Local Juice. I was able to get some of my favorite juice from The Local Juice, and I tried a new one! Harvest is my favorite and then I tried there new special (soon to be on their regular menu) which was made with Carrot, Fennel, Apple, Cucumber and Lemon. Seriously they are so good. I already have a countdown to the next LoveLocal Fest to get more. Hopefully I can get it sooner if they can get the permit to sell it at the Little Beach Gallery again. Or if you wanna try what they have to offer before the next LoveLocal Fest, you can get a taste at the Barnstable Market with their pop up smoothie/juice bar, or at Cape Cod farmer's markets. Check out their Instagram for where they are gonna be. Thank you to everyone who came by and supported local artisans and vendors and I hope to see you at the next LoveLocal Fest on August 30th from 11-7 at Aselton Park in Hyannis. Check out
#LoveLiveLocal #LoveLocalFest on Instagram for more pictures and details of the next events! I am very happy to announce that I will be a vendor at the LoveLocal Fests for the entire summer this year! The LoveLocal Fests are the last Sunday of July, August and September at Aselton Park in Hyannis MA. I am looking forward to doing all three, instead of just the one that I did last year. It was such a motivating show, because of how much Love Live Local supports local artisans. While I may not live on the Cape anymore, part of me will always still belong to the Cape.
Interested in checking out the show? Here are the show dates: July 26th August 30th September 27th All of the shows are from 11am-7pm I will be sharing sneak peeks into the new pieces that will be available at the shows throughout the summer! I stumbled upon a great publication a few weeks ago, Rhode Island Creative Magazine. Not only do they support local artisans, the magazine helps to create new jobs and bring more opportunities to Rhode Island residents. On top of the magazine, Rhode Island Creative Magazine has events that showcase local artisans, vendors and inspirational speakers. I was accepted to be a maker at the Annual Maker's Event on June 26th, from 6-9 at the Pawtucket Armory. I will have my jewelry for sale and I cannot wait to see what other Rhode Island residents have to offer. Check out the event on Facebook. Hope to see you there!
